Cashew nuts are the pear-shaped fruiting bodies of the cashew tree. Compared to other nuts they have are low in fat and calories, but are rich in minerals such as iron, magnesium, potassium and phosphorus. They also contain important B-vitamins, up to 20% protein and essential fatty acids such as the omega 3 fatty acid, which cannot be produced by the body itself.
Unlike conventional processing methods, our organic cashew nuts are not heated, but only lightly steamed to make the shell easier to remove before cracking. They are then individually cracked by hand and gently dried at a maximum of 45°C.
In close cooperation with a nut processing initiative, fairsnack has chosen this complex processing method in order to preserve the valuable, heat-sensitive ingredients of the cashew nuts in the best way possible.
